Make-A-Wish With Macy's

There's only 10 days until Christmas, and it's definitely feeling more festive and holiday-esque! With the shopping malls becoming more and more busy day in and day out, I find myself sometimes overwhelmed by the massive amount of gifts I need to get for friends and family.

At the same time with all the gift giving and receiving that goes on during the holidays, there are also many children in need, some who have been battling life-threatening illnesses all their lives. That's why this weekend, I helped my little cousin write a letter to Santa to drop off at our local Macy's store, and you can too!

Between November 7 – December 24, visit your local Macy’s store or Macy’s Believe online to submit your child’s letter to Santa and help make dreams come true for Make-A-Wish kids around the country. For every letter received through December 24, Macy’s will donate $1 to Make-A-Wish (up to $1,000,000).

This year marks the 7th year of Macy's Believe campaign, which invites believers of all ages to drop off letters to Santa at any Macy's store. For each letter received, Macy's donates $1 to Make-A-Wish in order to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. In fact, Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area grants more than 300 wishes annually to children who have battled these illnesses - and remember, a wish often marks a turning point in a child's recovery and they're granted every 38 minutes too!

To give you a heart-warming story, Joysse is a brave 4 year old girl from San Mateo (right near my hometown) who was diagnosed with leukemia and is now currently in remission, but not before several rounds of treatment. For her one true wish, Joysse asked for a princess party complete with purple and pink decorations, a princess dress, cake, and more - and guess what? Her party is scheduled for January, but as a surprise! In fact, Macy's will be helping her prepare for her wish with a very special celebration at the San Francisco Union Square location.

Everyone is busy during the holiday season, but if you have a little extra time, drop off a letter at your nearest Macy's store and make a child's wish one step closer to reality.
